I’m a high school teacher and it’s a back-of-the-mind thought for me. We had a lockdown a few months ago that I actually just wrote about on here this week. The threat of a gun in school was unfounded but struck fear in everyone at our school.
The reality of walking into a school and worrying about these kinds of things is an awful burden for children and adults alike. It’s a terrible feeling. Every time I hear it in the news, I think “that could have been us”.
Thank you for sharing a parent’s perspective. We need to wake up and take action, all politics aside.
